Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM)

The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) at the University of Bern provides undergraduate and postgraduate education and carries out interdisciplinary research in the fields of social and behavioural health, clinical epidemiology and biostatistics, and international and environmental health. Eminent speakers from Switzerland and abroad give presentations at monthly lectures where researchers from other institutes and members of the public are welcome to attend.

New factsheet published on vulnerability across the lifecourse and its relevance for health equity in health promotion and prevention

Annika Frahsa and her research group on community health and health care systems research had a mandate by Health Promotion Switzerland on particularly vulnerable population groups in health promotion and prevention. This mandate was to strengthen the issue of health equity in the development and implementation of the new cantonal action programs on health promotion and prevention.

SNSF Ambizione Award

A new SNSF Ambizione project on droughts and health at ISPM

Coral Salvador, a postdoc researcher working at the University of Vigo, has been awarded a SNSF Ambizione on her project IGIA-SETH (unravelInG the ImpActs of droughtS on human hEalTH). The project will start in July 2025 at the Climate Climate Epidemiology and Public Health group at ISPM. She has been a visiting researcher of the team between 2022 and 2024.
