04.03.2025 – Researchers at the Multidisciplinary Centre for Infectious Diseases (MCID) are preparing the canton of Bern for future pandemics with the BEready long-term study.

On 28 February 2020, the first Covid case reached the canton of Bern. Five years later, TeleBielingue and the Journal du Jura want to know from Prof Nicola Low and Dr Eva Maria Hodel from the ISPM what lessons have been learned from the pandemic and whether we are now better prepared for a future pandemic in the canton of Bern. Principal investigator Low and project manager Hodel present "Bern, get ready" (BEready) in the discussion. BEready is a long-term study in the canton of Bern that aims to include around 1,500 households of adults, children and pets in a population-based cohort. BEready aims to improve knowledge of existing infectious diseases and the preparedness to respond to emerging health threats.

Further details on the topic can be found in the report on TeleBielingue, in the newspaper article in the Journal du Jura and on the BEready website.
