The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) at the University of Bern provides undergraduate and postgraduate education and carries out interdisciplinary research in the fields of social and behavioural health, clinical epidemiology and biostatistics, and international and environmental health. Eminent speakers from Switzerland and abroad give presentations at monthly lectures where researchers from other institutes and members of the public are welcome to attend.

SNSF Swiss Postdoctoral Fellowship
Hicham Achebak, a postdoctoral researcher at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), has been awarded the highly competitive SNSF Swiss Postdoctoral Fellowship (SPF) on his project TEMPO (Temperature Exposure During Pregnancy and Birth Outcomes in Europe). Hicham will join ISPM in January 2026 to lead this 2-year project at the Climate Epidemiology and Public Health research group.
